Long steel products include rods, bars, wire, tubes and others. These products have important applications in the automotive construction, industry and power generation sectors.
The construction sector, which includes infrastructure and real estate, is the largest consumer of steel, accounting for about 61% of domestic demand It is followed by the capital goods sector, which accounts for around 10% of steel consumption, and the automotive sector, which accounts for around 9% of domestic steel demand.
Keeping this in mind, Steel & Metallurgy organised a NATIONAL ONE-DAY CONFERENCE ON LONG PRODUCTS TECHNOLOGY, MARKET AND APPLICATIONS on August 18, 2023 at Taj Vivanta, Kolkata, INDIA. The event was supported by industry associations All India Induction Furnaces Association (AIIFA) and Sponge Iron Manufacturers Association (SIMA), as well as organisations such as the Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council (IISSSC).
At the opening ceremony, the inaugural address was delivered by Ruchika Chaudhry Govil, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India.
